The Bicentennial Skipper, Part 2; S03 E15
Tuesday May 27, 2014
Tuesday May 27, 2014
Part two of our chat with Skipper Kevin Cavanaugh about his time in 1975-76, as well as a bit of editorializing from me about Disneyland price hikes, National Parks, and cast member pay raises. If you don't want to hear me getting all Andy Rooney, then Skip to 9 minutes in. It's been a year or so since I got up on a Soapbox, and I kind of like the view from there.See you all again in 2 weeks, and please let us know your comments either here, or over at Facebook.com/JungleCrews.Skipper Kyle Esq.

So, this is the first of a two-part episode with Skipper Kevin Cavanaugh. Kevin worked in the Jungle in 1975 and 1976, and is the Skipper who worked at the Jungle the earliest in it's history, of all the people we've sat down with. We had a great chat about his time there, and it's amazing how so much of his story mirrors what we hear from people who trained at Disneyland 40 years after. Enjoy!

Hey everybody! Is it Tuesday, already? We are so chock full of Skippertainment today. We've got Jungle Jesse himself on the podcast! Back to the late 90's and early 00's for a fun romp through pop culture where we discuss cosplay, the mating habits of Disney waterfowl, the future of Disneyland, and some great Jungle stories. (This one is the first episode in a year to get the "Explicit" tag, but it's not too bad...)Lots more to come in the following weeks. We've got about 3 months of episodes stockpiled, so this "every other Tuesday" schedule is looking good for a while.Kungaloosh!

Greetings From Club Mez (part 3); S03 E12

Tuesday Apr 15, 2014
This week we have our last part of the 3 part nostalgia fest that was the March gathering at the Casa De Mez. We chat with John Malloy, who is just SO adorable. Like, seriously, I would have loved to have worked with him. And of course, the beautiful and well opinionated Sue B joins us as well. We also have a half dozen other great people bouncing in and out of this episode...So, I don't think we really *have* to say this any more, but this episode features a few stories that are too salacious for the wee ones. But, seriously, are there any kids who come across our podcast and actually think it's for them? (Although, frankly, I'd be happy to have the extra listeners...)All is good in Jungle Crews land, and we'll see you guys in a few weeks!

Here's part 2 (of 3) of our sit down with the Skippers I got to meet in March. Skippers Jerry and Jim sat down with us to talk about their time in the Jungle in the early 80's to mid 90's. These guys were very warm and funny, and I really hope we get to chat with them in more detail as time goes on...We're going to an bi-monthly schedule for the time being, so every other Tuesday until we can build up more episodes. Thanks everyone, as always,Skipper Kyle

A Piece of Pie and some Coffee; S03 E10

Aaaaand, we're back, as promised. We've got a few episodes in the bag now, and more tapings set, so we'll be back onto at least a bi-monthly schedule. Thanks, everyone, for hanging in there with us.For St Patrick's Day Weekend, I was invited to another big Skipgather out near Topanga Canyon (where I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16...) with about 30 former cast members. Most were Jungle Cruise Skips at some time during their time at the park, and I had a great opportunity to listen to some fun stories, and to watch some of the great videos that were made at the time. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to come to events like this, and it's wonderful to see the enthusiasm and love that happens with Jungle Cruise Skips, even 30+ years after they worked at Disneyland. Today's episode is the first of three. Skipper Ed Cunningham is a long time friend of the show, and someone we've tried to have on for over a year. It was nice to finally get the chance to chat on a microphone. Skipper Dave Champagne (and his pie) also joined the conversation, and we got to have some fun recalling the days of their Disney time. Both great guys, and a fantastic start to the day I got to spend among an amazing group of people. I was genuinely humbled, and that's not something that happens often with me.See you all in 2 weeks for the next episode! -Kyle

(Click to visit)Nothing up on tap for the next couple of weeks, interview wise, but we're still working on lining them up. Got a couple big tapings scheduled for March, so just keep checking back with us. Feedback, as always, is welcomed.Skipper Kyle

Skippertainment! That's what we've got here.Well, after 66 episodes, I finally ran into one I couldn't make a good pun for a title. Still, it's an utterly fascinating "serious" episode where we dig into the history of Disneyland with Skipper Jeff Rhoads, and we get into the late 70's and early 80's at Disneyland. This is like your very own time machine right here. This is a great 2 part episode, so we're stretching your Disneyland Dollars to bring you a really entertaining and magical episode times two. Thanks for listening, everyone...Skipper Kyle
