The Mayor of the Jungle: S03 E07

Hey everyone! Welcome back to the show. As I am sure that many of you have noticed, we've been "off air" for a little bit. Well, the short answer is, I got married, did a Honeymoon, had Christmas, and am job hunting. On top of that, the Holidays are a rough time to get taping dates, as people apparently want to spend time with their family. We don't have a deep catalog of episodes ready to come out, so it might be 2-3 weeks before we can get another new episode for you. We're hoping to get back onto a weekly schedule by March. Today's episode, however, totally makes up for it. It's super exciting! Today we talk with the Mayor of West Hollywood, and a Jungle Cruise alum, Skipper John Duran. (Mayor John Duran. Skipper Mayor John Duran. Ok, whatever.) John tells fantastic stories about his time at Disneyland, the political culture of the resorts, and the cultural changes that were happening around the country during the early 80's. He's a charming, charismatic, and like-able person, and we need more people like him in our political process. Slowly but surely, we're cleaning up the audio on the Skype episodes that have right/left dialogue. Sorry it's taken so long.If you haven't noticed it yet, we've got a new webpage! Cleaned up, and with clever organizational tools to make finding episodes easier. Let us know what you think.Also, the Holidays were rough for us. After my wedding and Honeymoon, we were smack in the middle of the Holiday season, and I had a hard time locating Skips to sit down with. I've got a bunch of leads out, and I am sure we'll be back in the saddle soon with new episodes. Finally, the best way to get more episodes is to share us with your friends. Most of our interviews have happened because of referrals from listeners, so please share us with people who might be interested. Here's how it all started... (Remastered); S01 E01

Since we didn't know we were having issues with our older episodes, (The first 10 episodes have been unavailable on iTunes for almost 6 months) I thought I'd go back through the first episode and take out some of the noise, and remaster the voices. The result is a lot of fun.So, I adore both of these Skips. Skipper Benny and Skipper Kaz are two of the Skips I looked up to most in my time at Jungle, and I am indebted to both of them for sitting down with me and helping me get a feel for what the podcast was going to be about. On top of that, it was a pretty decent (and at times, moving) interview. The second half of the episode needs a lot more sound cleanup, but here's part 1 for now. We hope your Holidays are going well, and keep telling your friends about the show. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
